About Critter Acres Kennels

Kennel InteriorWe bought our first Miniature Schnauzer in August of 1996. She was the last one of the litter. She did not have the Schnauzer hair cut and she was a little fur ball. Our eyes met and she won my heart. We wrapped her in a baby blanket we brought for her and she quickly snuggled in.

As we started home she began to tremble, never being in a vehicle before. I held her close to me and talked softly. She went off to sleep. That ride home was a huge bonding moment. From then on she knew I would keep her safe and she quickly felt secure with everyone in the family. She would take turns sleeping with the kids at night. When they took their daily naps, she would curl next to one of them. She loves going places with us, but favorite thing to do is going for a ride in the golf cart.

She grew to be a beautiful, petite, but very sturdy "Salt & Pepper." Princess Fergie is her name, but she likes being the "tomboy" also. She is very protective, especially with the kids. We named all of her toys and she knows which one we tell her to bring to us. She does have her favorite toys and she doesn't like for the other dogs to play with them. Fergie has a lot of tricks she likes to do when company comes to visit. She really is a "showoff."

Fergie has been and still is a wonderful companion for all of us through the years. We had no idea when we brought this cute little puppy home how much it would change our lives. These little dogs have so much love to give and we want to give love back unconditionally.

Kennel InteriorWhen Fergie was 1-1/2 years old, we decided to let her have puppies. A friend had a beautiful "Salt & Pepper" male and they always got along well together. His name was Jo Jo. Soon we had little one's for Fergie to care for. She was a great mother to her babies. She did not want to leave them alone at all. We had to take her out to take a potty break. Quickly she would be back at the door, scratching frantically, wanting to come back inside.

She would check each pup as if she was counting to make sure all were still in the box. It was a good experience for us and we had fun with it also. We decided to keep a few of the females and gave the others to family members.

We had other dog lovers interested in having a Schnauzer also. I wanted to raise excellent quality Schnauzers so I looked for awhile for a good male to purchase. I knew we had to have a bigger place to raise these Schnauzers, so I started looking at different kennels to get building ideas for our very own kennel.
